1. Product Development

• Oversee and manage product development projects from concept to production launch.

• Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.

• Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.

• Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.

• Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.

• Identify and resolve technical issues within the project.

• Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.

• Develop and deliver all APQP documentation.

2. Engineering Support

• Execute the Engineering change process from creation through action items to final review, approval and closure.

• Support the Engineering team and Design Engineers by providing input to technical solutions.

• Assist with performance testing and analysis of proprietary and / or competitor products.

• Provide technical assistance to other personnel within the company as needed.

• Update, review and maintain product definitions such as drawings, specifications, CAD data, etc.

• Estimate product manufacturing costs as well as design and develop costs for new products.

• Attend customer design review meetings as required.

3. Manufacturing Cost Estimates

• Work with Sales and/or Project Management to create manufacturing cost estimates (MCEs).

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Must have 5 years relevant combination of training and work experience.

• Prefer three years’ industry experience in a similar role (i.e. interior and exterior lighting).

• Good working knowledge of the fabrication of metal and plastic parts, inspection, assembly and packaging techniques.
• Knowledge of plastic injection molding, stamping, tooling and manufacturing disciplines.
• Hands on experience in Pro Engineering, CATIA, or other CAD software.
• Some experience or knowledge of regulatory requirements as they may apply to new product development, such as SAE, FMVSS, ECE, CCC, and ASTM requirements.

• TS16949 knowledge preferred but not (initially) required.

• Knowledge of quality concepts, including continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, etc
• Experience with Process Validation preferred.
• History of cost reduction efforts.
• Good interpersonal communication skills and leadership.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to perform mechanical design reviews, including tolerance stacking, material considerations, etc.
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex designs to other functional groups.
• Ability to clearly identify problem areas and communicate the problem to coworkers. Have experience creating and executing simple practical solutions to product problems in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects.
