1. Leads and manages regional indirect tax operations; ensures compliance for all indirect taxes, including VAT, GST, sales taxes, customs, excise, etc.;
2. Manages and supports the optimization of indirect taxes for all business in the region; develops and implements front-end invoice process improvement with the finance teams, implements processes that continuously improve the sustainable efficiency and effectiveness of company’s indirect tax position, including the cost-effective management of indirect tax resources.
3. Manages indirect tax audits. Supports risk management and implements risk mitigation for all indirect taxes. Provides training and builds awareness in the finance and business teams about indirect tax compliance and process improvement.
4. Supports the implementation of the indirect tax strategy globally, ensuring the indirect tax compliance and local optimization of company's Global Enterprise Model.
5. Partners effectively with SBUs and Corporate Functions in indirect tax projects and transactions. Regularly reports on monitoring, managing, controlling and tracking all indirect tax compliance requirements.
1. Bachelor's degree: a relevant subject such as Law, Economics, Accounting, Finance preferred; Professional qualification such as Tax Practitioner's Certificate, CPA, Law or ACCA
2. 10+ years in indirect tax; Extensive experience in the indirect tax function of large multinationals and/or Big 4
3. International global tax experience with detailed working knowledge of at least one tax jurisdiction and general practical understanding of international tax law and guidelines regarding indirect taxes, customs, import duties, etc.
4. Ability to effectively build indirect tax awareness at the appropriate levels across the SBUs and corporate functions to support the Global Enterprise Model and mitigate tax compliance risks and enhance the application of the Code of Ethics
5. Advanced Adaptability, Analytical Thinking, Entrepreneurship, Facilitation, Global Outlook, Project Management
6. Leadership and management capability for a large, diverse teams of senior professionals
7. Networks with operational leading individuals and functions, co-manages outside advisors, monitors and reports on performance
8. Supports solving unique and complex technical, managerial and stakeholder problems that have a broad impact on the business from global to country or local entity level
9. Co-defines process improvements and implementation, acutely aware of rapidly changing environment internally (growth strategy) and externally (rapidly changing tax regulation)
10. Advanced performance management: people and organizational skills managed through defining goals based on group strategy and steering operational execution
11. People management skills, including leading (virtual) teams, job and career development, performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, discipline, termination, etc.
12. Strong communication and influential skills; Fluent in written and spoken English; multiple language ability an advantage
