The role: Womenswear Editor

The hours: 9.00am – 6.00pm (Monday to Friday)

9.00am – 6.00pm (every other Saturday)


The Team

This role sits within the Customer Experience center, and the wider Marketing Department. The Content Team is a multi-disciplinary department responsible for the delivery of all fashion related content across the FashionMia website and associated marketing channels (Facebook amongst others). The team consists of editors, web designers, UI designers, developers, trading activity managers, social media editors and project managers – all working together to produce engaging and insightful content relevant to the target and to deliver on overarching objective – getting a name in fashion for 20 somethings!


The Role

This role reports to the Senior Content Editor and the User Experience Manager.

The Detail

  • Work in close conjunction with the Senior Content Editor, to create and manage the womenswear editorial output for the US, by delivering inspiring content that taps into our global customers’ needs, and reflects of our brand DNA across all platforms including newsfeed, social, newsletters and site homepages.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Social Media team to create highly innovative and inherently social content; and to distribute relevant, engaging and sharable longer form content via the FashionMia social platforms.
  • Concept, write, translate, edit and upload daily articles for FashionMia; drive traffic to these articles through effective distribution on all available channels.
  • Help to champion a culture of optimization; sharing learnings from activities (both good and bad); and pushing both the Editorial and Social teams to keep developing their approach.
  • Feed into the monthly reporting, tracking and measuring of content performance, and use the lessons – collated from post campaign analysis of local activity created with Trade Marketing Managers - to inform future content planning and creation, based on relevant KPIs.
  • Work with the SEO team to ensure that all content is optimized for search; keeping up with regular developments and updates.
  • Ensure all editorial and social ideas support the broader business strategy and collaborate with design, buying and merchandising teams to effectively convert retail and trading messages into customer relevant, fashion credible campaigns.
  • Utilize existing relationships and develop new ones with freelance writers, photographers, artists and PRs or talent management reps to commission bespoke content for your territory that will inspire our audience and raise our fashion profile.
  • Provide writing and editing support for ad hoc copy requests, for example from PR, social, customer services, etc.
  • Manage and contribute to the evolution of the daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal content calendar across all communication channels.
  • Ensure the publishing schedule is delivered within budget.
  • Manage any junior writers, when applicable. Provide support and guidance to improve their writing skills.
  • Craft a culture within the editorial team that is positive, professional and always ambitious for the department and the brand.

Some key skills and experience that you will need...

  • Talented, digital content expert with a proven editorial background.
  • The ability to consistently produce short and punchy heads and sells, great copy and original feature ideas.
  • Ability to self-sub and a meticulous eye for checking copy.
  • Interest and experience in concepting and creating multimedia content: everything from pictures to video, through to long form articles and snappy headlines.
  • An intrinsic understanding of the FashionMia womenswear customer and what motivates her.
  • Excellent understanding of online content for the fashion forward twenty-something audience.
  • Plugged into fashion industry and pop culture and a keen eye for spotting the latest up and coming trends
  • Highly engaged in social media and well-versed in emerging social platforms
  • Strong understanding of digital/online technology and its application across multi-channel content publishing including, apps, social media and video.
  • Good understanding of retail and ability to articulate retail messages for the target customer, as well as be able to communicate confidently about fashion.
  • An understanding of SEO principles and online publishing.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced daily publishing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach and able to build strong relationships
